Anyone fitted a new door handle release cable in a mark 1 Vito?

Do you know what i mean??

I was climbing out of the passenger side when i heard a pop and felt the handle go limp.. I was stuck inside.. INSIDDEEEE! After i realized i could escape from the drivers side i pulled off all the bits and pieces to investigate..

I have removed the door card and the inner plate that everything is attached, so to gain access to the cable.. I have a bullsh1t aftermarket central locking system that is more trouble than its worth so i'll be bypassing that and just do the door on the key.

My problem is actually getting the cable out from the outside handle end.. Has anyone removed theres before? Its quite obvious how the other end works so thats partly a relief, but how the hell does the other end come out/reattach? There desn't seem to be any access into the the lock mechanism to attach it up. I"ve attached the offending end, any ideas would be gratefully recieved!

Dan

The confusing end..

Piece of pissch mate..remove the outer handle..1 screw,,slide the handle out ...you'll see the cable straight away..you'll need a long nose pliers or a very talented baby to get the cable out....then in the words of Mr.Hayes..."the re-fitment is a reversal of the removal..

You're probably putting it in the wrong hole , make sure you get it nice and straight....then stick it in and push it home ...you'll know when its all the way in...

hi gixer, the solenoids have been rotten and play up,sometimes they work sometimes they dont ( i lost a tool box 1 night because the back door solenoid didnt want to work)
then both passenger and driver door cables snapped at the point where they were attatched to the metal rod that pulls the cable.
to be honest i think it was a poor quality system that was fitted by mercs auto electrician contractor.
and dont even bother asking merc to help you with it or get you parts.
