Hi Bakersville
Are you sure its the digital display thats gone, not just the back lights. There are two lamps behind the display, when one goes you don't really notice, it just seems a little less bright, when the second one goes you will be able to just make out the display when the other clocks are illuminated (side lights on).
Remove the instrument cluster and check the back light lamps. Undo the two black plastic screw caps at the top of the cluster, revealing two metal screws, undo these. Either pull out the air vent next to the cluster and put in a hand to push out the cluster, or put your arm right up from the foot well and push out the cluster.
Hope thats all there is to it, cheap easy fix as opposed to the expensive new / referb. cluster option.

Regards

Vito dashboard referb

Sounds more expensive, mention was made (about November ish ) on this forum of a company that referbs MB dash boards, have a good search of the forum, or can anyone remember the company details.

Regards

Hi Bakersville.
If you think the clocks are a write off why not have a go at re fixing the ribbon cable. I can not remember how it's fixed, is it punched down or soldered, either way I would have a go at fixing it, no loss if you completly f'it up as you have decide to buy new clocks and I would guess £500+ to gain if you are successful.
Have a go but take sme pictures, so we all know how to fix them when you are successful.
Go for it --- good luck
