badger01`s vito

Well I said I`d post a report on how my vito was driving ...
1999 metallic blue vito CDi 110
piece of crap....
Electrics failed/ headlights dashboard etc
Suspension at back worse sounds like many snooker players all practicing
gear box hellish wont go into 2nd when cold and loose and wobbly when warm, similar to stirring porridge instead of changin gear.

bought her for 3,000
spent 2,000 on gear selctor/engine head gasket seals brake pads fluid etc etc the list goes on....
lost 5,000

Worst van I have ever driven. I now wont even get in it as I`m so very very upset I waited ages to get the bitch fixed and its all been an utter waste of time.
between this van and my previous car... I only wish I lived near my fishing..so I wouldnt have to bloody drive.

I can honestly say there is nothing good about this van nothing works and lousy to drive
If anyone wants her for £800, she is as good as thiers!!!!! all that is just needed is a tow truck to take it away
Either that or its going on fire tomorow/today

Sorry to have posted all my woes on here....
I am sure there are plenty of other good Vito`s out there.
Just a total B*****d mine isnt one of `em.

4xpaws...shes got 101,750 approx
However I should mention that I still really want a Vito...just a new one with a warranty methinks.
Either I am a sucker for punishment or they are attractive vans compared to everything else...with possible exception to good VW transporters.

So I guess I should fire on some more rubbish relating to my unfortunate Vito110cdi
Shes not on fire ...yet but thats a start which goes for the van it seems to start ok as long as the electrical thing with the dash isnt happening.

I seem to have some kind of intermittant electrical disaster ...which manifests it self in..... no electric at dash for the odd second in particular after driving some distance.
On top of that I have heard the suspension at the back start to make a nice whacking sound...
Glow plug snapped, Gplug warning lamp now on all the time, terrible starting on possibly only 3 cylinders nice cloud of smoke every time...
Central locking seems to be part of the whole electric farce..the dash flickers and the locks fire on and off!!! whilst driving
Other than that the engine is fantastic worked on by Merc benz and totally different to way it was when I "bought" the offending van "just" needs a new head in time.
Oh did I mention the whole event slightly caused me to freak out and now the gear selctor mechanism at the dash end is pretty bad now too
Off to ebay for me..... taxi!!!!
total cost£5000 ..

Badger, some cheap tips ( I hope)

Wacking at rear suspension - probably shot damper (gas shock) dead easy to sort and spot.

Electrical maladies - problems like you are describing are almost always related to fidgety wiring, mostly earths. Start her up, open driver door and fiddle with the conduit that houses the wiring that runs from the dash to the door, observe for dodgy reactions, repeat with other doors, starting with the ones used most, also check body and battery earth.
These mercs have fancy electrics that can get very confused, very quickly...good luck

Right all thankyou much
I have taken a little time to think things over.....
Shes a good van really...I fiddled with the electrics cleaned a couple of connector blocks at the headlights and played around with the wiring at the fuse box and doors too.
Only prob now is she wont lock without the alarm going off.
starts up ok
electric faults almost sorted
suspension needs rebuilt again
alarm wont go off so cannot be locked
It truly is one thing after another, even after taking time out to chill and think about this...despite my love for these vans....shes gotta go.
