108 cdi temp fan / temp gauge problems

Hi I'm hoping someone has an answer to by problem. My 108cdi Vito has aproblem with the coooing fan / temp gauge, when the cooling fan for the radiator comes on it sends the temp gauge up instantly as if there is a electrical short. whan the fan switches off the temp gauge coes back to normal, it also so effects the engine like a stutter. Also so I check to see if the engine has overheated but you could easliy remove the radiator cap without getting burnt by hot water.

I would suggest that you check the resistance of the coolant temp sensor or just replace it if you don't have time
