Hi Guys,

I thought I would start ANOTHER THREAD!

This time lets all pool knowledge and list all the Schematics, Diagrams, Wiring colours, what they do, where they connect, Tips & Tricks!

I do hope this will be another useful thread and a useful resource, and to start it off with, I have attached a document which shows the Mercedes 'SPEED PULSE WIRE/CONNECTOR' this is useful when someone has speedo faults and when people want to upgrade their equipment, say if they wanted to install a fixed Satellite Navigation head unit or similar.

Resetting the service computer (ASSYST)

Hi,

* Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition lock and immediately press the 'km' button twice briefly

* Within 10 seconds, return the key to position 0 in the ignition lock.

* Keep the 'km' button pressed, Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition lock. Keep the 'km' button pressed for a further 10 seconds.

* The current remaining distance/remaining time is shown.

* After about 10 seconds an audible signal sounds and the new remaining distance/remaining time is shown for about 10 seconds.

* Release the 'km' button

To check oil level from the comfort of your dashboard:

Stop the engine and wait for 5 mins after engine is at its normal operating temperature.

The vehicle must be on a level surface when the oil is checked.

* Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition lock and wait approximately 10 seconds until the 'oil symbol' appears in the multi-function display.

* Briefly press the'km' button twice within 10 seconds.


If the oil level is ok then a message of 'oK' will be displayed.

If the message 'HI' is diplayed then you must drain excess oil.

If the message is - 1.0L , - 1.5L or - 2.0L (the 'L' meaning Litres) then you must Top up the oil with the amount displayed

Hi, It applys to all vehicles with (ASSYST).

What does the instrument/clock panel in your van look like?
I have attached a picture of my dash if it is the same then as I understand it, it will work on your V 230 TD.

Hi Sarge,

I wonder if you can help me? I have noticed that my digital dash no longer lights up when I open the front doors, I am also having trouble with the interior light, it doesn't come on when opening the front doors but the map reading light/constantly on will work when moving the switch.

Do you know if the dash and interior light are connected together somehow? It seems strange that they should both stop working at the same time.

I have a similar problem.
There are two sources that causes my problem and one or both might be same as yours.

1: The switch on the passenger door is malfunctioning and will be replaced.

2: The cable that runs between the door ánd chassi is broken. Not all cables whitin that cable is broken but some of them are. The result of the broken cables is that the interior light sometimes come on (but not always), the electric window on driverside doesnt go up (down works) and som directions of the electric mirrors wont work.
When the weather becomes better i will grab a soldering iron and replace the wiring.
