108cdi problem

hi, ive got an 02 plate vito 108cdi. its done 144k now and at 100k had to have 2 injector seals done as had diesel fumes in cab. This last 2 wks the engine isnt ticker over too good when idling and when i first set off its very noisy. Took in garage(merc one) and they say the driveshaft has a fair bit of play, the gearbox is a bit noisy and the 2 injectors are showing bad readings. It does smoke a fair bit(notice it at night more obviously!) it isnt using any oil or water nd fuel isnt too bad either. going back to garage in morn but wondered if any one had any other ideas cos they want to try diff things..ie 4 injectors 1st!!! it has been serviced regularly but the garage i used to use left the air filter out once!!(dont use anymore) had to have the air flow thingy changed because of it..mayb damaged the turbo because of this too

cheers in advance
shaun

my 108cdi had same problem 100k injectors major service normal 3 injectors , fixed cabin fumes comeing from injector washers loose. Still blows smoke sometimes under gear changes and hard acceleration, this is normal . what i did find is oil in the intercooler pipe this builds up over time, it comes from fumes built up in the head cover this vent into the intake side of the turbo thus burning the fumes in the exhaust part of the emission control system . excessive oil consumption could also burn in the exhaust thus makeing it smoky. look on the bright side diesel is cleaner than normal fuel. if you find a cure let me know.

had 3 new injectors as they were poorly!!! they said the other was ok so dint change... its ran spot on for bout 3 wks...

now im getting a few noises when first start again(like diesel knock) and the power isnt great..well at times...just seems really sluggish getting up to 70 then is smooth like.

the garage say the turbo is getting noisier. but i noticed a slight leak on the egr valve he said the gasket prob gone on it.. he also said the head gasket cud be on way out( cos he took cap of water and there was pressure(i had done 200 miles b4 i went to him like!!!) and there was a smallish white scum on the oil cap(its been there since i got it) any ideas... i just get feeling garage cant be arsed in diagnosing just wanna fit parts galore...

my main concern is the sluggish accelerating..seems to be running good on fuel at the mo
