Exclamation new vito

i dont want to put any dampeners on your new vito but i have a 04 plate 111 compact van with 16000 miles on and it has being back to the main dealers 7 times with major parts failing but the main thing i am upset about is there is rust creeping through alot of the joins and seems on the body work all over the van this is bad news as in say 4 years time it will ripe so at the moment i have wrote to mb and told them i am regecting the van and either want my money back or it replacing , so i will keep you all in formed with the outcome lets hope it is a one off as they are a nice van when wright

I have an june\04 vito long 111 Dual-liner
Absolutely no rust whatsoever.
Runs like a dream , handles unlike any van ive ever driven , never been back to the dealer, 13000 miles and no service light on yet, hopefully will go the full 18000
before 1st service. Aircon still working fine without a refill. Still feels very lively even with a full load. More comfortable than any car ive owned due to the massive cabin space and comfort seats " in the front "

PS
the turbo sounds really nice too

Better than i thought it would be !!

my guess is 30\35 but im basing that on experience and my wallet.
After reading about your rust problem i went and gave mine a very close inspection, all clear so far. Mine lives outside to.

Hi, I have a December 2005 Vito in Brillant Silver and the paint is horrible. It had paint bubbles around the lower fold corners on 3 wheel arches and on one corner of the bonnet. On sunny days you can notice paint shadows within in the paint as some sections are darker then others. I was given a new replacement Vito (Atlanis-Blue) while the silver vito was getting fixed and it you stood back and looked at the van, there were minor factory dents that had been sprayed over. There is no quality control on these Vito's at all!

Are those standard paint jobs ?
Mine is "Jet Black" it was a special order paint , i dont have any "dents" at all
and believe me it would show up on my van.
Maybe there is an isssue with the standard paint , or maybe you just unlucky.
Hope they sort it for you.

Brilliant Silver metallic is a standard colour which is used on all Benz's and Carbon Black Metallic is also a standard colour able here in Australia.
I was going to order a black Vito but I whimped out because it was to dam hot. Australia sun and black paint dont go together.

Anyway, it took over 4 months of ringing up every second day trying to get the Vito fixed and I ended up rolling up to the General Manager of Merc's office door and said Im not moving until somethings done!

Things got moving straight away but they only did a half arsed job and I rejected it and they took it away again. All up it was a total of 4 weeks and it still not ok. 95% fixed.

When my contract is finished in 2 years, I'm heading back to a T5 VW.

Exclamation Rusting Vito

I too have a 04 Vito with rust on the external body work and under the body. The under body area is treated with underseal type protection 300mm in from the sill (to the centre of a main strut runing the length of the van) the middle of the van has only got a primer which is allowing rust to take hold
I have taken my van back to the main agent and they agree that it is impossible to repaint the under side of the van satisfactorly the sugestion made was that they would give me a good deal for me to exchange my van for a new one an expense I do not want to incure
So does any body know how should a 2004 March 1st Vito be treated under the body? I know that all new Vito's from November 05 are fully Galvanised
What is my legal position? Is the van fit for its purpose I reckon in another 2 years it will be very rusty
