My V220 6 seater has got a broken seat catch on one of the back seats. It's the one on the right at the back of the seat that lets you fold the seat completely forward before removing the seat.
Is this fixable, or do I need to find a second hand seat from somewhere?
I too had the same problem. I tried various solvents, but the plastic is a thermoplastic and can't be welded - even if it could, I think the forces would break the plastic again. I solved the problem by looping some webbing around the lever, inside the chair, that the handle pulls. You can then simply pull on the webbing to release the seat. It works fine - won't break - and costs nothing!
You should be able to thread the webbing through the chair without taking it apart. I will try and post a photo of the 'repair' later today - if I get home before dark.
I am afraid the seat lever, like the table hinges and the front arm rests are examples of pivot points that look good on paper, but whos mechanics were not adequately tested before production. We should be glad that Mercedes don't make medical equipment!
I have attached some images of the broken seat catch, and a loop of webbing I used instead. You could make a neater job of it - I was, at the time, more concerned with being able to get the seat out....
