Faulty Central Locking

Anyone please advise me on my faulty central locking, when a lock my V-Class with the original key fob it will lock, but then unlock straight away. I then have to flick the key open again and then close it once more, it then locks, unlocks and finally lock, in other words the locks switches 5 times before I can leave the vehicle. I cleaned the contacts on the pillars that connect to the sliding doors, but no joy.
Any advise will be appreciated, thanks!!!

RE: Faulty Central Locking

Check the sliding rear doors electrical contacts, they often get dirty and need cleaning. Make sure they are making good contact and the spring behind them are giving some resistance by pressing gently in.

Does using the locking button on the dash and/or manual locking give the same symptoms or could it be the key, alternatively try the spare key.

Also check the previous thread regarding wiring failing in the front doors:

RE: Faulty Central Locking

I had the same problem on my '99 vito.
The cause was cracked wiring on the drivers side where the wires pass from the door to the bodywork.
The door would lock and unlock when the door was opened. Check these wires as they are very thin. I replaced mine with new wire and have had no problems since.
Also check the batteries in your remote as this can produce a weak and confusing signal.
Hope this helps

RE: Faulty Central Locking

im picking my s plate 113 up on tue, and it is booked straight in my local specialist,
when i try to lock it will unlock immediately,
i don't know if this is part of the same fault but the passenger rear sliding ignores any action taken by the central locking but you have to sinc it with the other doors i.e. if you try to lock all and the doors and the side door is already locked they wont lock, and vise versa ill try cleaning the contacts , but i'll let you know how i got off

RE: Faulty Central Locking

Hi Tanner,
Try taking the plate with the contacts off (no the pin side) and check the connections behind. Make sure there are no cracks in the wiring as well as loose connections.
Sounds exactly the same as the problem i had.

RE: Faulty Central Locking

Hi

I have pretty much the same problem with mine but have just not had the time to look into it. However I have found that if i press the button once, wait a second then press again it locks properly. hope this helps
