start error

I see many posts here regarding to changing the battery of the car and the problems that came later for leaving the car without battery for a little while.
I own a vito 112CDI 2001. I have that problem too. I changed the battery and now I got the message: "start error"

The dealer said that I have to take the car there (with a crane, I guess).

I heard that there is a system to solve this error, like pushing the remote unlock and lock several times.

Could anyone help me please?

A friend has a vito 110 cdi with the same problem after battery running down any chance of forwarding the file
