Hello, new to the forum, looking for some information regarding the gear levers on my 406 unimog there is quite a few, I've worked out the red top ones the forward/reverse gear, the long lever is 4 wheel drive, small one next to it is front and back pto but what are the other two for?
well i think thats what they are for as you can guess I've not had it long, thanks in advance for any replies.
Middle gear is half gear, one to left on slant is std/crawl/super-crawl.. where crawl and super-crawl will lock you out of top 4 gears so you need to be in neutral having come from 1 or 2 to shift that lever... but read that sticky first!

Check out this page from the owners manual. The only difference is that the long lever for 4 wheel drive you have on your truck is replaced in later model 406's by the knob labeled #5. Also the long lever engages 4-wheel when pulled half way up. When pulled all the way up it will engage the differential lockers.
