SBU transmission oil pump issues

A friend has a U1500 SBU with a transmission oil pump issues. As I understand it the pump is not able to pump fluid around the input shaft bearings. They have disconnected the line going to the 24speed box and they are getting oil there but no oil up near the bearings on the input shaft. Anyone ever seen an issue like this? The oil pump was worn out shot so they fixed that issue but they are still generating a lot of heat up on top of the trans in a stationary position and have found those bearings and that shaft are not getting lube as expected.

Ideas?

Hmm...interesting...
I took this thing apart at least twice now and don't remember seeing
any bearings in it.
I took some pictures, while was working on it, I can dig them up
after work tonight.
If that thing gets hot, I suspect there is no flow of transmission
fluid to the pump itself, so the problem may be somewhere else.
That may also explain why the pump got worn out - no lubrication.

I haven't been inside which I'm thankful for...

I assume the line that runs to the front of the 24 speed box is from the oil pump, they did say oil comes out "spray" of that line so I suspect it is pumping, unless there is some sort of secondary pump.
