Is this another Brake line?

I just picked up a 416 Unimog. (More info: Unimog Repair Project)

I've got what I think is a hydraulic brake line that is missing on front passenger side. I see 2 lines going in on the backside of the axle and this single line going in on the front side. Looking at the manual I don't see a line going in on the front?

I've attached 3 images.
* image from the manual showing the 2 lines on the backside
* image of the drivers side with the line intact
* image of the passengers side with the line cut

Is this line something to do with the brakes?

Thanks for answering DokaTD, I realize that was probably a very nube question. :-(

And now for another...

Is it bad to drive with this line missing on the front passenger side? I guess it squirts out fluid and drains the reservoir till you have no brake fluid?

It's a vent tube for the portal gears not the brakes. You can drive with it off for awhile. Just verify that you are not loosing gear oil out of it, and make sure the portal is topped off every few drives. However, it's just pressed on rubber hose that you can get at the local auto store.
