I am building up a rockcrawler, and I am tired of breaking axles. I want the ground clearance, and the strength of a 404 axle. Can anyone tell me where I can find these for a decent price? If not the whole axle, I will take JUST the portal boxes... Hell, I am willing to get just one and have my machinist make me a new box from scratch.
try Exact , if not cregs list , ebay , were are u located my buddy her in western canada has 3 404's one alredy missing axles, get 406 axles they are better hevier strong and can be equiped with disk brakes from the factory, I'm expecting a shipment of some volvo c-303 portal axles also a good option because they do not need as much modifications to work on a buggy example no pinion conversion nessisary?

I hear the Volvos are a LOT weaker than the mog axles, but just out of curiosity, how much do you want for a pair? As for the 406 axles, I heard they are more difficult to adapt a regular driveshaft to. IS this true? Exaxt is SUPER pricey with their stuff.
I am in SAn Francisco bay area. I do have a bro in law living up in Vancouver now. Maybe I can have him find me a set.
the 406++ axles are VERY nice. They are a bit heavier, but from what I read are very easy to work with. Also very hard to find... and you will pay a fortune for them.
For whatever you are doing, search the pirate site and there is info on billet portal boxes for high hp applications.
