Not to get too off the topic, but yeah, I saved two trees from being negligently removed yesterday. Not unlike an old unimog, once they're gone, they're gone for good...
well i will throw in my 2 pennys........ ACUF you should just buy it. von would be happy and so would you...... you saved a mog from the torch and von will have 8000 in his pocket..... now that is a win , win in my book.
Von, Thanks for the info....For $8250 this truck is a great deal. For an extra $350 you can get new brake parts and redo the brakes..If you need a PTO he has every conceivable one you may need. Yes it may need some work but so did mine when I bought it and it only went 10mph down the road. Just my .02$...Great deal! Thanks Von for giving someone here a great start to owning a Mog!
P.s....I'm laughing at your comments ACUF....Being negative is natural to all humans and is usually self-centered. Being constructive takes a bit of thought. If you don't have something constructive to say...Zip it!
General "ditto". If no one is willing (or able) to take advantage of a good deal then no one has any basis for criticizing Von - or, for that matter, any of us for what we do with (or to) our Mogs. Lost Mog bad/available parts good - the fact that I was not willing (which, as I suspect with all of us, reflects on ability) to take advantage of an opportunity makes my opinion irrelevant.

While I could buy it, I have a hard enough time justifying one mog to my wife. I think, from an enthusiasts view, that truck is way too nice to part out. Financially. parting it out may be more lucrative. I tend to be the enthusiast, welding things back together because I can't stand to scrap history. To each their own, if you scrap it Von, I understand, but will still call you a bad name.

Seth,
You would not be the first and I am sure you will not be the last! I have a thick skin, so I will let you know when to start firing away, if the truck has not sold soon!
Cut it to the bone. Hack it beyond all belief. Make sure the cutting torch slices through the Vin # on the frame as well! Put the data tag on your wall and pat yourself on the back for increasing the value of the existing Unimogs on the planet. 1 down, 40,000 to go.....then we might see some real collector value!
Call it what you want but "You want Von on that cutting torch, you need him on that cutting torch...." sounds better with Jack Nicholsens voice......
To each their own, if you scrap it Von, I understand, but will still call you a bad name.
Pretty much my how I think about it...
While I don't like to see usable stuff destroyed, I'm not about to drop any green to "save" it. Besides, I may some day NEED a part off it's bones to repair my now more valuable truck (as in more unique, thanks to the torch).
I suspect your average EU resident can't imagine the fuss. To them, this would be just like parting out yet another old Chevy or Ford pickup. Dime a dozen in any bone yard.
But, I reserve the right to mumble dark things about Von - not that it would make him sleep less soundly
