That's Dirk Rautenberg and I have a couple of trucks that came from him. One I bought directly and it worked out well. However, that was 10 years ago and I don't know the present status of his business. As with most importers, the schedule will not work out as optimistically as planned. Be sure all details are discussed ahead of time.

If you want to add a milk truck body to a unimog then this truck might be for you. Don't know if Merz-ben still has it but this is a picture of one of his trucks.

Can't see the picture.

I'm putting my car up for sale in the local area this week, that will provide me with some extra funds to find the right DOKA. Theres a few on unimog exchange that interest me, might be worth a trip down south to the states to look at one or two. I live 2 blocks from work, so I'm not worried about not having a vehicle while I look (my wife has one and I can borrow my dads extra truck if needed). And if I don't find one by winter, I'll buy a beater and continue the search.

Edit:

Pick just came up, thats a neat looking unit...do you know what he wanted for it? Thats an old railroad unit isn't it? Do you have his contact info?

Hi,

Be aware that this railway truck has different axles. At least the rear axle is a high capacity one with leaf springs instead of coil. also no portal! For offroad not the best guess.

speed is 70km/hr on road, 50km/hour on the track.

dutch a-like rail-mog with specs

Must be such one for sale somewere in the dutch also. It was this winter i saw it in some ads.

Thats defiantly a possibility for a hunting rig, I think that one was sold by classicunimogs, or its very similar. I really like that setup, if its highway speed capable (well, say 90km/h) and still off road capable, I may be interested.... I'll have to consider Merz-ben's unit for sure, is there anything different on a railway truck (besides the obvious taller cab, box on the back, and possibility of lower gears) that a person should be aware of? Like the rear axle may not be a portal axle, how does the frame flex? Could the rear axle be changed to a portal axle? And if not, what are you loosing not having a portal axle? I understand theres a little height difference, but do you loose gearing as well?

Is this the same one that was on Ebay? Looks decent for the price, bottoms of the doors look rusty, that must be a fairly common problem I'm guessing.

Picasa Web Albums - Elka - 1974 UNIMOG d...

He's asking $18,500

Edit: Just found the rusting doka doors thread

Sorry guys, I got more questions...Is it hard to convert a standard cab to a Doka cab if I can find a doka cab? There seems to be lots of standard cabs for sale in great shape for decent prices.
