The brakes are usually hydrolic with air assist booster.

I think the 416 with white bumper has disc brakes, the one with winch and brusk rack looks like drum brakes (looking at the different rims)

Both have a PTO shaft to the back, i see that the pump is removed on one.

its nice, no uber cool bush cage, what does "air assist" brakes mean? thats not what we in Canada refer to as airbrakes is it? I'd have to get my airbrake endorsement if thats the case. I'll keep that one in mind, still waiting on a price of the other one from Holland.

Air assist means that the hydraulic brakes have an air booster that amplifies the pedal pressure. No need for air endorsement, normal brakes.

Hey tkv,

Air brakes endorsement course takes one day only and yes you don't need it but I found it very valuable as a future Mog driver(hopefully - right Chris?).
Especially here in Alberta with severe climate you should know what to expect from and how to service this kind of system. You will deal with air dryer and antifreeze in your air lines and air compressor as well. Not only brakes but diffs also require air to operate so Mog is quite different vehicle than most domestic trucks.

As of RC if you still think about dealing with them read carefully again what Heavy Weapons had experienced in this matter and make sure your contract covers every detail of work to be done and the TIME FRAME! This way you will save yourself from a bunch of gray hair on your head.
And also be aware that Mog fever is very hard to cure...

Even though I had posted positive comments about RC, I would approach any business with them taking extreme caution. They have very poor time management skills. 6 weeks means 6 months. I have had my truck for probably 9 months and love it but we still have a large unresolved financial issue.

Personally, I would look private for a 416. SBU's are harder to find in northern america so you are forced to go with an importer.

Duly noted, I've had mog fever for some time now, there is a company in my home town called "Big Eagle Hydrovac" that has one of the newer (U500 I think) unimogs, I first seen it coming down the road towards me, and knew I had to have one, once I found the price of a new one I started looking at older ones, at about the same time I was just getting into hunting, seemed like a perfect match, but the perfect one has been elusive at best. On a side note, Is there a place I can go to see some interior pic's of a 416? Theres none in my area, and a google image search for "Unimog 416 DOKA interior" doesn't reveal much I just want an idea of what one looks like, the closest I've seen is theres a pizza place in town called "The Funky Pickle" (Don't ask) that has a Unimog softtop 404 troop carrier often parked to advertise, and I took a sit in it, would it be similar?

I hope that truktor has some ;-)

Position to sit is better in a 416/406 then in a 404. With the extra space off a extended/double cab you can change easier to better (car) seats. (lot of people do a roof lift to) An SBU (square cab U series) has the most space to easy enter and leave the vehicle. In a 416 its a pain in the butt to do so often after eachother. When you sit, you wanna sit and not leave it for the next half hour ;-)

Beware of Norwegian Mogs

Just make sure you get plenty of pictures of the underneath of any machinery used on road coming out of Norway. They salt the roads here like you wouldn't beleive and those fire trucks certainly wouldn't have been washed before being parked up "till next time".Even after limited use here in Norway my mog is showing the effects of road salt. The local government bought a fleet of new buses, didn't spend the extra to get the chassis sealed and they were unsafe within two years!Hard to beleive but true.
