Post Can somebody confirm this ebay differential posting? Faster 404 differential options

Here is the listing....Differential Unimog 404 NOS 4111 0824 the fast one Item number: Ebay item #220201051221

I checked my illustrated parts manual and there is no option of 404 NOS 4111 0824.

I checked my actual casting # on my 404 and it said....#404 4111 0134

So according to this listing there is actually a option for a faster? 39 teeth?

Can anybody verify this?

I uploading the pic from ebay to and added it to your post. Not sure if it is a generic dif housing pic or the actual one for sale.

Anyway... what is the normal teeth count on a 404 and what does this change the ratio too if it really is what it says it is?

Too bad there is only one if it is real. Still.... would be nice to have to so ones like it could be machined to match.

If there was a fast ring and pinion for the 404, I think you would have heard about it by now.

Post Thanks for the info...

Alright. Two things in this pop out from this discussion. Aparently Mecimpex.Inc is under new managament according to Mecimpex ebay add. Can anbody confirm this and who is running it and maybe the reasons for this?

Also..I did get an email and apparently there are 6 available for this unit. With the information that was gathered here thanks to the 404 Guru's....It's a bit pricey considering mine are in great condition and the gains are too nominal to notice.

I'm not saying the add was placed wrong or to be deceptive just the way it's worded makes it sounds like that the perception and gain would increase exponentially but also considering that were talking about a Mog maybe I should put my money into finding a Booster Rocket. LOL! With Airbags and a parachute.

As an aside..I spoke to an engineering company about different ring and pinions for 404 axles to improve hiway speeds.

The answer..not a problem just leave me your cheque book.
They informed me it would not be hard to make a custom set, but the cost would probably be too scary for anyone to consider.

My guess is it would take 50 to 100 folk willing to put out 600 + dollars each to both buy them their new R&P set and to pay toward defraying the cost of the research and set up of that first R&P.

Wished you had pressed him further so it was not so up in the air.

Anybody know the proper outside dimensions of front/rear brake cylinders?

Well, I've done business with them in the past under the old management and they even had a phone number to call. Service was quick except they sent me a full set of brake cylinders. They were not marked front or rear. So I called and asked if he could verify the outside diameter for front and rear? It seemed a reasonable question so he responded to just send them back? What, look I already had them on with no fluids but I just wanted to make sure. 1 year later still no info. I've tried to get this info. Does anybody know the proper outside dimensions? If not...Is there a difference in size between front and rear and if so do the front's get the big brake cylinders and the rear the small?

Speaking of ring and pinion. Does any body know if my last four digits is 0134 diff has ___number of teeth? Would a new ring and pinion, if it was made be a big difference like 2-6 teeth? If it's only a minor difference then it wouldn't be any different.

I chatted with a person who was selling there 416 hybrid axles with a Ford 9" ect. He had 6K in disc brake cost with another 5500 in axle transformation. What a hole in the water.
