Yup, Thats the one from ebay a couple weeks ago. This also is my first! It was too late to really get a good look at everything, but it looks great. Just needs an exhaust. It's a real bear to shift, guess I just need to get used to the gate.

Dude, I just got my first (running) 404 a couple of weeks ago. The shift was very stiff to start with but with a bit of use, a bit of practice and a whole load of grease, it now shifts much more easily. Persevere!

It looks like a real beauty. M180?

Wow! Really nice looking mog. I love the old 404 hard cabs. If the gate you are referring to is the one between 2nd and 3rd, mine has always required two hands to shift. But in normal everyday driving, you probably want to start out in 3rd gear anyway. Enjoy your new toy!

Yeah mine was a dog between 2nd and 3rd but it's smoothed out a bit now. Downchanging from 5th to 4th is now the hardest shift. Even double declutching it can still be a bit of a bitch. Two handed gear shifting's no fun!!

On my 404, going from 2nd to 3rd, I just kinda slap the shifter to the right to get it over into the highway gears... its pretty easy to do now that its been driven a bit. Mine was a bear too when I first got it. it took a lot of finagling to get the shifter through the gate.

These trucks like to be driven and drive better the more they are used.
