Interesting head modifications. Anybody looked into this, or heard of anybody who has...

I have read a bit about this. This is the best set of links and written material on his work than I've seen though so thank you for brining to our attention.

IMHO this gentalman is doing for plug fired engines what Elsbitt did for diesel engines. breaking the molds of design and improving efficency with turbulance (for lack of a better word).

Actually their two designs together IMHO could make diesl engines extremely efficient though I suspect that would entail blending fuels (cetane and octane types) and using both spark plug fire AND diesel compression to create multiple flame fronts maximizing the combustion to nearer 100% than has ever been reached.

Just put one of those vortex thingies in your intake, and put split fire plugs in.

Ive done similar head mods to two stroke motors with little or no change in the output or consumption of the motor. These were racing two strokes as well, not lawn mower engines.

On his website he has a number of drag racers that have done these mods. They have "resulted" in lower ETs, jeting down the carbs, cooler temp. Most say that have to back off on the timing, which tells me that the air/fuel mixture is going off quicker and more complete.

did you play much with changing the timing? The more automized fuel would; I assume, have different combustion characteristics such as rate of ignition and length of burn so timing changes sounds to be a must.

Thats one of the less researched areas us veg oil fuelers run into. There is very little research into adjusting the timing to optimize the cumbustion when running on VO fuels and blends. All the researach out there on how well it does/does not work did not optimize the engine to run with the different fuel. This is changing somewhat now that some folk are finding they can use the glowplugs; when turned off, as sensors to measure cumbustion quality.

KC, I hope your kidding about those vortex thingies and the split fire plugs!

They make intake venturi inserts for motorcycle engines that are supposed to increase horsepower. I have my doubts.

One thing I did learn years ago on a Weber carb set-up for a Datsun SRL311 is to watch what you put in the intake track. The air filters on that Weber kit came with some cheasey aluminum brackets that eventually fatigued, cracked and got sucked through the engine causing plenty of damage to the piston crowns and head. From that day forward, I have been very leary of putting anything in the intake tract that had even the slightest chance of being sucked in.

Having said that, I have seen some pretty credible info about decreasing intake port size on bike engines with epoxy in order to increase charge velocity and compression chamber turbulence. IMHO, problem is not if the epoxy would let go but when. Maybe sucking epoxy through would not cause as much damage.

I had three 2 door 510s with BRE kits in my twenties. What fun cars they were. Glad to see others with similar interests here. One of these days I'll get me a mog and be able to speak more intelligently about those too.

Of course burque, those things work man. Ive seen it. Hell it added at least 50% HP to my 404. I even took a porsche off the line the other day. I was surprised though, he had a much better top end.

I think Im just going to make my truck run on water. I hear alkaseltzer helps the electric conversion to hydrogen.
