If anyone is interested in buying a very nice 406 Doka I will sell mine or trade it for a 416 Doka of equal value. I have received a LOT of heat, off-line, about "destroying" a rare 406 Doka (353 total units built),by actually using it off-road. I bought it for that purpose, and it is ideal for it. However, if anyone would actually like to "Save" this vehicle from me, and is willing to fork over the money to do so, then here is your opportunity. If not, then please let me enjoy my wonderful toy in peace.
$22,000 or trade for a 416 Doka of equal value.

I am not kidding. I have received several nastygrams from different people urging me to NOT use my Mog anywhere that it would potentially be damaged. I am new to this community, and don't want to pi$$ anyone off, so I am giving them a chance to put their money where their mouths are. Put up or shut up...
Von, no offense, but you are a Mog god, and are incapable of error. (This is meant as a compliment, and not a joke)
Kenny1, I appreciate the offer, but I need a Doka to haul the family and a single cab would not work. Thanks anyways.
mangomog, I would just run over anyone who gives me any heat, but I may scratch the precious paint and really make them mad!
It's an aircraft tug for God's sake, not a 550K staff car. It was made out of a bunch of parts for other Mogs. About the only thing unusual is the torque converter. The last I heard, the local guy who owns the exact same model Mog as you, was burying it in cornfields, pulling out stuck cars and tractors with his XM-47's.
I have the exact same cab on my 416. My truck is even "rarer" - it has both fast axles and a 20 speed crawler box - maybe I should put it in a plastic bag filled with nitrogen. Right now, it's sitting out in the rain with 1000 pounds of cell site coax cable on the deck. Quick people - send me an email telling me I'm abusing it ! Call me crazy, but it looks like it's enjoying the opportunity to continuing working for a living.
Robert, these are probably the same people who buy classic sports cars and lock them away in their living rooms, never to be driven again. Give them the respect they deserve - little.
It's your truck - you paid for it. If you really bought it to wheel it, get busy with the mods and go for it. Tell nay-sayers to hit the road.
BTW - delete any personal info from those emails and post 'em up. Sounds like they would be good for a laugh. Oh - and go get yourself a user name on Pirate4X4. They understand things like this there. You'll find me on both the Mog and Land Rover boards as 'Discosaurus'.
Ciao.

I'm in agreeance with the others who posted, just wheel the thing and tell everyone else to go bother someone who cares. After all, even if you do damage it - so what - nothing a welder, plasma cutter, torch, some hammers, and a crow bar can't fix!

Whot a stupid idea, mailing around telling whot to do or not, to other people. Buy a scrap 416 and part out the 406 tug and rebuild the 416 telling me to you whot to do.
If those guys had guts thye would post here how they think.
(btw, ive seen alot abused toyota LC FJ55 in the states *iron pigs*. I have one of 14 known imported in the Netherlands. THATS rare as its the one and only with ambulance doors! So i would really like to find a good californian car without rust to rebuild our rustybrown pig.)

WOW!... fast axles AND a 20 speed... now I'm salivating! That seems like the best of both worlds... FAST and SLOW. I was wondering if MB ever built a truck like that... sure seems like the ticket, I'd love to have that combo in my 406.
As for the 406 doka I'd say drive it, take care of it and smile alot :-)
