As for the 406 doka I'd say drive it, take care of it and smile alot :-)
Mother Benz would never have built a truck that way. Fast AND slow ? Illogical
Either the cascade or the gear set was changed in at a later date. Guess it was ruined by not keeping it exactly as the build sheet said

That is what I would have thought, someone changed one or the other, or both.
Sad that they ruined a great truck hehehe.
If I was rich I'd most likley ruin mine too
I dream of 53 mph. with the motor not wound tight.
and to still have full on creeper gears too.
Revolutionary!

I want to throw my hat in the ring on this issue. I may not be able to weigh in because the simple fact of not actually owning a mog(not yet), But in all of my research I have read every single mog is specifically designed. So in fact every one's mog is different and rear. All I know is if people were giving me sh#t for what I love to do, they can eat it.

$22,000 or trade for a 416 Doka of equal value.

I got emails like that when I first got into Mogs. Almost turned me off from being associated with Mogs and the people that drive them COMPLETELY. Their were some very insulting aszhat things said to me just cause I wanted to modify a Mog so I could go Wheeling (to an extent) in a camperish rig. I don't know maybe I came across wrong? That was before I found this board much less became the moderator

Anyway... I have NOT emailed anyone about this rig to plug against its use (or any other) butttt.... Doka's are rare. I think he is actuallly smart to sell it/trade it for a rig just as or more capable offroad. Potentialy saves a doka and could get him a 416 or??? that he could wheel even better.

BTW I may be in SC for a competition in Dec

EDIT: I should digress some here. It all matters what one calls "offroading" If your a trail rider (logging roads, powerline roads, hunting roads etc.) then a Doka like this is PERFECT. Make it gorgeous but don't care if you scrape it up some and get a little dusty or muddy. Hey, its a Mog it is MADE to be WORKED.

Now if you get more hardcore than that... well... its up to you. Me I seriously attempt to sell it to someone that fits the above catagory so this little bit more rare of a Doka is under less roll over/fully destroy it type potential.

I say do what you want with it. The doka might be rare but we are not talking about a one of a kind protype here. By the numbers of mogs world wide they are all rare. They were built to work so make it work. If it spent the first half of its life tugging aircraft, a little wheeling won't hurt it, right?

good luck and have fun.

Depends on how far up you're talking about. I work in Charlotte, NC and spend time in the Boone and Ashville areas as well. I'll be glad to help out if I can.

Where will you be Dec 2nd?
