406 van

I've been thinking about building one of those 406 vans that i've seen. The one i saw was a guy in Turkey who used Doka rear doors and enclosed the area behind the rear seats with a van body. This thing looked BAD!!! I often wondered if joining another vehicles rear section to the 406 cab could be done. I got the idea when i was standing in front of my buddy's VW bus. It looked like if you cut off the back it would resemble somewhat the rounded shape of a unimog. Maybe there are other vehicles out there that could make good doners with their rear section. Anybody have ideas or similar thoughts on this or am I just being dumb and crazy?

This one might still be for sale. It would save you alot of work. I would love to buy it, but I need to sell some of my other 406's first. Its in NH or Mass. I think. If you want the info just contact me. Von

I am sure you know it but the body mounts on a van will have to be swiveling/pivoting so the frame can twist with out ripping the body apart.

I was even thinking of having an acordian type rubber boot that seperated the two bodies (like the trams in holland) A bit crazy but it could maybe work and some how look good.

I was going to do one of these, so I talked to the owner of the one in the photo. He stated that the back is mounted to the frame only at one central point, just like the front is. That way the frame can flex around the cab.
