Ok, so I will just talk to myself for a bit. I think after looking at the two head styles, it looks like I need to use the head gasket from the sedan. My problem, is that the only block I had stripped, I tossed in the dumpster a few months back. So I wont know for sure untill I remove my current head. But I know for sure that the High compression head must use the sedan gasket, and vis versa. So now, I guess I just have to make sure my block does not have any thing different about it. I lined the sedan gasket up to an old Mog head I had, and it definatly did not fit the combustion chamber. But it did fit everything else to a T. The funny thing is, that the valves and combustion chamber hang over the block. I am not used to seeing this, as i usually work on newer V8's. Just seems like a bad design for flow. Anyway, the head shoudl be done in the next few days, I just have to find a sedan head gasket set. The dealer said it was terminally backorderd to germany, with no delivery date. So I am going to have to resort to a local aftermarket source.
I am about to order the upper end gasket kit for a 1960 220S so I can install the high compression head on my 2.2L 404. If anyone has any better information on getting the right gaskets I would like to hear from you now.
Thanks,
Try this guy, he's on this list and I've bought from him many times. Knows his shit for car stuff.

Well I got my gasket set in from http://www.mercedessource.com/ today and the mystery is solved. The head gasket is the right one for the high compression head. I got the valve stem seals I have been waiting for too so now the head work can begin. I am not really looking forward to this swap, there's just something about working on my own vehicles that I dread. On the other hand I wouldn't let anyone else wrench on my rides, know what I mean?
SD, the folks at Mercedes Source were great to deal with. Thanks for the link, it made things painless.
