404 transmission trouble

I have some questions about the transmission in my 1962 404, it is a typical 6 speed, no seperate crawler set.

The transmission shifts into 1 and 2 fine and operates well in these gears. It will not shift into 3rd or 4th but will shift into 5th and 6th.

Is this a common sign of wear in these boxes or is something likely broken inside?

Is there any adjustment in the shift linkage or inside the box that might help the situation?

Can a regular heavy truck tranny shop help out with this?

If I could get it to the point where I need to double clutch I'ld be happy.

If no shifting into 2/4 includes when the engine is off, something must be siezed. I recommend removing the top plate, with shifters and lockout mechanismes. Then you can determine if it's siezing in that or the slider is stuck on the shaft.
