I'm thinking that a Coleman Polar Cub with a 3000w modified sinwave inverter is the way I'll go. I'll sell the one I have and put an extra alternator on, just for this, in place of the AC compressor or upgrade the factory alternator. I've talked to the Coleman folks and they have tested the unit in this fashion.

Did they mention what make and model inverter they did the test with?
I've got a Polar Club and was thinking of roof mounting it after I get the smaller tires.
I just bought a cheap 3000w/6000surge chinese inverter to power my little cabin home off of batteries. Even this cheapy was 500 buks. Add the cost of fabricating brackets and purchasing a big alternator and the Colman AC unit... how much are you saving compared to the cost of these units?
Howdy FEF,
They used two different brands....one was a Xantrex(sp). and the other was a Wagan(sp). Both worked well. I'll look for the one with the best warranty. Coach...as far as the savings.....The Coleman Polar Cub (9200 BTU) can be found new on sale for under $500 and has a two year warranty. With any of the 12v systems I'd have to upgrade the alternator. I'm sure the FridgeAir I have on my mog right now was not cheap, but, for my DoKa in 100 plus degrees I need more BTUs. So.......there you have it.
