Mr MB is still a great shop

I just had a wide range of maintenance and work done on my 560sl by Vik, who bought Mr MB from Enrique a few years ago. Vik is an experienced auto tech, and was a former shop manager at an MB dealer, He obviously also had a long history with Enrique, who trusted him when he turned over his shop, with it's long-standing great reputation to Vik.

I found Vik to be very knowledgeable, and he is a very pleasant and responsive person. He was helpful and communicative with me over several days of major work on my car. He did a complete inspection and survey of my '89 560SL, and I ended up trusting him with wide range of work, updates and repairs, including SRS unit replacement, complete replacement of leaky/sloppy steering box, AC repair and update, brakes, motor mounts, subframe bushings, exhaust, and much more.. He kept me informed during the process and was very helpful... I also thought his pricing was fair and reasonable for the scope of work he completed. I cannot offer anything but the highest kudos to Vik for the work he handled for me, and the manner in which he completed it.

I want to give a solid endorsement for Mr MB Motors.

I was in LA last month and bought a W140 while there. A 1994 S500. Prior to buying the car I had called two shops to inquire about a PPI. One of the shops was Mr MB Motors and I can say it was a pleasure to discuss my plan with Vik over about a 5 to 10 minute phone call.

Within days I had bought the car it felt solid but the seller wouldn't allow for a PPI saying Tarzana was too far to go with the car. (If anyone is interested I wrote a long story of the car search and purchase in the W140 forum). Anyway I took the car from the car lot after purchase to Mr MB and gave the car to Vik for an inspection that afternoon. I was on a time frame that was probably a bit extreme for him to work under...either get the work done by the next 2 days so I could drive the car cross country to home or I'd instead have to arrange shipping the car and get to LAX for a late night flight that Friday evening. Vik assured me the work could be done in time. We had talked about the time frame on our initial discussion and he knew to call me early that next morning so he would have the time to order all parts should I wish to proceed as we had no idea prior as to what would ultimately be required until he finished his inspection. I appreciated his organization and well planned approach under these circumstances. We agreed to proceed and all parts were ordered and all work began that day.

Vik pulled his technician Carlos from his other jobs and began work on the car. He kept in contact with me and the afternoon of day one of repairs I stopped by to see how things were going. Vik invited me into the service bay while the car was on the lift and showed me the parts that had been removed for replacement. We discussed the car and he was very welcoming to the idea of my stop to the shop that afternoon. He and Carlos were great they took the time to also explain what had been done so far and what was remaining at that point in time.

The next day Vik called around 2:30 the car was completed. We discussed again my plan to drive the car to the opposite coast and both of us felt an alignment would be a good idea. Knowing my time crunch, Vik called over to Hanks Tire on Ventura and I took the car there for an alignment. That shop gave me Vik's rate which I was appreciative of and by 4:30 I was on my way to the hotel to plan my cross county drive the next morning.

I will also include here that the shop itself was impeccable, clean and well sorted. The entire experience was a real pleasure and upon finalizing the transaction with Vik we discussed the car and other Mercedes cars for several minutes which probably was about a half an hour really. He was very knowledgeable and I will say leaving California made me feel bad that I wouldn't be able to visit this shop again.

I have my own service shops here at home I use and trust but as a visitor to Mr MB while I was in town, I will say I was treated very well as a guest while in LA by Mr MB Motors. Having owned many various Mercedes and being in a family who has as well, I was very pleased with Mr MB Motors and want to thank Vik and Carlos should they happen across this post.

Mr MB---Good shop

I previously posted about my great experience with Vik at Mr MB Motors last fall... He got my newly acquired 1989 560sl in tip-top shape, and kept me informed all along the way. I was so happy with his services that I went back for more when I bought another 560sl with my son. We found a bargain 1987 560sl which had been sitting for a while and we took it to Vik for a safety check and servicing... We told him we did not want to do anything more than ensure it was safe to drive and asked for a report on what was needed... Vik kept us informed, got it serviced, tuned it up, flushed brakes, replaced brake pads and did miscellaneous minor items and kept the cost to a reasonable level for the amount of work that his garage did. He gave us a list of other items which could be handled downstream if we decide to keep the car for long term.. He did not try to upsell us on anything. I cannot ask for anything more from a Mercedes garage....

Vik is a gentleman. He is ethical, helpful and honest about what needs to be done, without pushing the customer or trying to make the job bigger than it needs to be. I can also attest to the fact that he knows these 107 MBs really well and has the resources to find parts when needed at reasonable cost. Once again, I highly recommend Vik and Mr MB Motors!
