Anyone have recommended shops in North Phoenix (N of the 101)? If not, looks like I'll be headed to MB Motors when it's necessary.

There is a younger German guy up by Deer Valley airport called "Das Werks" or something like that.
Used him once or twice. He "tows the line".

He is on Cave Creek up by that big Harley dealership.

Having just arrived here I can comment on all three techs, positively...

# 1 - David Terry - he is good, detail oriented, with great references and terrific value for money. Even Bud at MB motor rates him. Willing to put time in to assist you. I am expecting to get more work done from him and will update. So far it has been a pleasure dealing wth DT.

# 2 - Russ at European Specialty - very good, polite, and loves W140's - he has one. Single man shop and very good value for money also. Willing to put time in to assist, and kind.

# 3 - Bud at MB motors - very exprienced, clearly knows his stuff inside out and like the others is a gentleman too. He is a little more expensive but still very good value at only $82 vs 59 & 60 per hr. Probably the most experienced of the three, with DT not far behind.

Phoenix appears spoiled for choice for good MB independent techs, but I will only know for sure after they complete the work.

UPDATE:- 9.29.11

Now half way through the work; David is a wonderful guy; Bud is great and Russ is a gentleman, kind and very knowledgable on the details. Let's see what I say when it's all done... Also Phoenix Motors are very good MB dealer, much more of an indie feel...

regards,

Does anyone have experience with a place on Cave Creek Road (south of Thunderbird/Cactus) called Euro Car Center?

I want to get general diagnostics done before a road trip so I stopped by European Auto Salon and Atwood, both on 7th St today. EAS said next week, Atwood said tomorrow, I could wait and they have WiFi. A helpful guy named Ellis talked to me about my new purchase, came out and checked out my car and told me several things this noob did not know.

I'm thinking Atwood.

German Auto has been really good to me. Can be quite expensive sometimes, completely reasonable others.

I'ver praddled on about this in another thread, but this place is an interesting twist on repair shops - and they're great (if you like to do a few things yourself) ...
U-Fix-It Center

Inexpensive - plus they'll loan you their tools!

Do any of you guy's know of someone in the Phoenix area that really understands a STAR Diagnostic System (SDS) and can lower the ride height of an ADS2 system w/o screwing it up? Do they know what the term Rodeo configuration stands for?

The system is working fine right now. Just want to lower it. I know, don't mess with it.

STAR ...

Don't know his opinion of lowering, but I'd begin with Bud ...

PS - tell him I'll be in for a check-up when I get back from NY (so reserve a hoist).

Since my extended-warranty cease on my w210, I take my car to German Auto on 7th St. & Camelback. They provide the highest expectations in making your car run to perfection.
