Ever wanted to be a fly on the wall in one of these shops? I got that opportunity when I did my V8 conversion. Robert Krause gave me free use of one of the service bays for a month! I was there doing my thing while I got to see and over hear how they did theirs. I was very impressed! They are nicest and most honest people I have ever seen in a shop. Want to know what they say after you leave? Almost everytime after someone would leave with their car, they would brag about how much they saved the customer compared to all the other repair estimates the customer had received. While I am able to do just about anything to my car, if I ever need the help of shop there is no other place I would go. They were also vital to getting the electronics figured out that allowed my V6 to V8 conversion to start and run!

Alex is the one who will usually answer, though Hans will occasionally as well.
They've maintained my ML430 for years (which I tow extensively with)and I've had nothing but extremely great results from them. High marks from me - and as a racecar builder who just doesn't have time to maintain every vehicle around here, finding someone I truly like and am impressed by is not easy.
Agree. He has maintained by now dead '91 560 SEL for years and my daughter's 530i as well. Honest and straightforward.

Can anyone give me review on AutoScope? They have three locations: Plano, Dallas Near White Rock Lake and Dallas near Love Field. I had them put on some tires I ordered from TireRack, but that has been the limit of my experience. The service was good, but they seem a bit pricey... Anyone else had any other experiences with this outfit?
Thanks in advance.

I have had very good experience with AutoHans, reasonable price and friendly, professional treatment.

My MB's are generally under warranty but my 05 Passat TDI doesn't get touched by anyone but AutoScope Love Field. Sending my son out of state to college every year in a car with 120k+ miles is a little easier to do knowing the care that AutoScope has given. Steve is the best. There may be an independent less expensive then AutoScope, but they are cheaper than the VW dealer around the corner, and the updates, explanantions, pictures, and follow-up are greatly appreciated.

My experience has been they present themselves as a low cost alternative to the stealership, but they're not. They mark their parts up 250% & their labor estimates tend to be 4x what the MB Tech book estimates in repair time. My guess is they show you a $4000 estimate, and if you balk, they drop it 20-30%, which still makes it a high priced estimate, but now they've destroyed trust with the customer. They are very nice and easy to deal with, so if you are a billionaire or don't care about money, this is the place to go. If you're a self-made man, then choose elsewhere. I didn't make my money so I could just give it away.
