Thanks for letting me know. I'll try to call him tomorrow. My indy in California would do things like this for no charge. I wish I can find a guy like that around here.

Let him, the elder J Frank, give you his family history lesson, maybe, just maybe...
Seriously, he is a gentleman and a great conversation. His English is a bit heavy, he's from Poland, but he does a pretty good job with English. He raced Formula 3 cars in Poland and has some pics and articles...interesting stuff.
Do give them a call

I am new owner BUT recently had a 1998 SL500 top replaced at Gibbs Auto Interiors in Westfield; 317-804-9102. The shop is rudimentary but they seemed knowledgeable and professional. They were recommended by Keith at Miller Auto in Carmel (Keith has worked on my cars for 20+ years).

I used to buy my 303 from Gibbs when they were in Castleton. They are nice people and were fun to chat up. I've only been to the Westfield location 1 time, and no, it wasn't fancy, but I understand they do good work.

Has anyone used Indy's All Auto in Zionsvile? Any feedback would be appreciated.

No, sorry. I've only used WWM on E. 96th, and that for the trans repair.

Character worthy of Praise! (MIKAR Carmel, IN)

120 1st Avenue Southwest Carmel, IN 46032
(317) 575-8282

These are guys that have business character rarely found in this day and age. I had some work done on my car there this spring. An issue developed that was obviously due to a slight slip-up on their part. They guarantee their work, but I was now back in Tampa, FL. I called, expecting to get the standard "Well, if you were HERE, we would take care of it, but...". However, I was amazed when they told me to take it in to my trusted mechanic and send them the bill. They said that they are "not in the business of ripping people off", and that they stand behind their work.

This sounded all well and good, but I still wondered if they would actually follow up. I had the repairs completed and faxed them the bill. There was no problem whatsoever, and I had a check shortly thereafter.

THIS is something that is all too rare these days. I bow to the owner and manager of MIKAR in Carmel, IN. YOU know how to take care of your customers. I can't use them again right now, because I am back in Tampa, FL, but if I ever am up there for work again, they will have my business for sure. Everyone makes a mistake now and then, but a true business man owns up to it and makes it right. MIKAR went above and beyond, and proved that they are worthy of anyone's trust.

Thank you to the ownership and staff of MIKAR for restoring my faith in businesses!

You guys should check out Rick Vaughn, of Vaughn Motor works, North Indy/zionsville. He worked on my BMW for a long time, and has worked on a family member's Benz for a while as well. The best indie for German cars that I've ever used in the 4 states in which I've lived.

I didn't see Don Reed mentioned. I have heard great things about him and his prices are amazing. I am dropping of my 190E monday for some work. I will update to let everyone know how it goes.

If your looking for Don Reed, there is no website. He is pretty old school.

Met Don this morning and he seems like a great guy. He has already called me to tell me that I do not need one of the repairs I had on my list. The shop is not in the best area, but well worth the trip so far...

Another Update:
Got my 190 back today, and I couldn't be happier. Don did great work and both the parts and the labor were half of what another shop had quoted. He also found that I did not need a repair that the original shop said was needed. I will write a list of what I had done in the 201 section. (Thread is called "list of problems")

After my nasty experience with Pete's service, I am not even parking my car in the same block with these guys!
