KY, Lexington

As a border state, Kentucky falls both in Midwest and South. Lexington tries to avoid the south for some unknown reason.

James Motors Company [Benz Dealer] is very good. Their service department is excellent and their management is top notch. They work with you on problems.

Motorsports Curt has been in biz for over 25 years and has a very good rep with euro cars, from Benz to Ferrari. He is the goto guy if you have a problem with an older car.

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.

I have been very pleased with Greg Scheller at Covey Automotive. He is a MB tech who went indie then joined Covey. Several other techs there are MB guys. Although the shop works on anything they unofficially specialize in MB (as evidenced by what's in their service bay at any given time, at least 50% MB). Very honest and reasonable.

My limited experience with James has been the opposite of the previous poster. Expensive and borderline dishonest. Would use them as last resort.

I have dealt with Curt at Motorsport also, no complaints there. They specialize in BMW but work on all Europeans. Seem to be reasonably priced and totally honest and knowledgeable.

I'm using Bob at German Automotive - Automotive service & repair shop - Lexington,KY .
One man type of operation. I took my car to him to get the A/C checked and was impressed with his knowledge about MB's, especailly the nitty grittys on 722.xx trannys. He tested my a/c and let me know i had overcharged it with my silly can of r134. Labor prices are good as well, but he is super busy. Only works on MB, BMW, and Porsche.

Lexington, KY Mercedes Service

I've used James Motor and an independent and have been pleased with both. For my 1998 E320 wagon I use Bill Linville at European Auto Livery, his labor rates are -$10p/hr less then James Motor. He is a one person shop and is a master mechanic and extremely honest. I've had great experience at James Motor with my 2005 E320 CDI. Since it's under warranty I've used them and also for the maintenance.

I've owned two(2) W140's, a 190E and now a W208. Nobody touches my cars except AutoBahn Motors in Louisville, KY. Benz exclusive side, and now they have a BWM side. The bays a seperated buy an office.

I've been going to these guys since the early 2000's, and with the W140's, they've been forced to get so intimate with the cars, they partically made love to the cars, (and my wallet). But their pricing is fair, they shoot straight up, tell what you NEED, what can WAIT, and HOW LONG YOU'VE got. I go out of my way to get to these guys. Nice facility they moved into off of Poplar Level Road, too, although I miss the grimey old little shop they used to be in off of Mellwood.
