Mainly Benz In Poughkeepsie NY***** Five Stars*****

When you're fed up at the Benz Stealer, there's only one game in Poughkeepie when it comes to Benz work at a reasonable rate an excellent workmanship. Joe Meier is honest and usually backed up a week or two in appointments because of his customer service and quality work. I've been using him for over 10 years and he has yet to disappoint me, other than the wait to get in there, he'll save you a ton over the dealer and won't BS you in the process. He knows Diesels, especially the older ones!!! Tell him Trooper Joe sent you.

I can vouch for Mainly Benz/Mitchell Motors too. Very knowledgeable, very friendly...he takes the time to really explain things to you, which I just love! If I'm spending the $$ I wanna know every detail. LOL. Needless to say, they're fair, honest, and they never try to "girl" you. I even went in there one time when I was in the market to buy, and although they didn't have anything that interested me, I got all the Benz purchacing advice I needed without spending a dime. He even told me he'd be happy to check out a car that wasn't his before I bought it.

Glad they are folks that know Joe and Mainly Benz. My vote to him as well. I know Joe for some time now, and he has been extremely honest, knowledgeble, and knows where to look to solve problems. He saved me a lot of time and $, and of course my 87 300E is still alive and going, thanks to him.

I happened to be there last week, for a normal tune-up. I asked for sparkplugs, wires, and all the necessary items. He said he will check to see if I really needed them. Turned out the plugs and wires were OK, and were not changed. Had I gone to somebody else, he would have thrown in the kitchen sink.

Another good place to go for autobody work in the PoK area, is Tony Spiak. He is a bit slow, but you cannot compare his work quality with anybody else (paint, etc).

I recently picked up a used 190D, my first benz and went here based on this forum. I found Joe and Mainly Benz to be great. I do a fair amount of my own car work, so, I know what's involved with many jobs and I found that they did the work that had to be done, gave me some solid advice about the car without run around, and all for a reasonable price. I will without a doubt be taking my car back for annual inspections, and for the jobs over my head.

It's nice too that he's worked on the older diesels so he knows what to expect from em.

I've been familiar with Mitchell Motors for years. Chuck sells mostly used MB's with a few other things thrown in from time to time.

As mentioned, Mainly Benz is the service side of Mitchell Motors, and I had my first experience with Joe Meier yesterday based mostly on the reviews I read here.

Wasn't quite sure of the history of the antifreeze in our recently purchased 560SL and, when the light on the dash went on a week or two ago, I noted that the level was a little lower than the normal cold level in the reservoir tank. Rather than just adding some more to the coolant that I wasn't sure about, I elected to go see Joe.

Took a week to get an appointment but, after arriving and waiting for the engine to cool down a bit, Joe was off to work. He quickly showed me the MB antifreeze he would be using, and was finished within 30-40 minutes, even while checking the oil and tranny fluids.

We talked about the car for a few minutes inside while settling the bill, and then, after asking if we planned to store the car over the winter, he walked outside with us to explain a few things about proper winter storage of the vehicle.

On the website for Mitchell Motors, Poughkeepsie, it states that Joe has been with them for 20 years. He certainly seemed well familiar with our car, and had a couple of others on the lot waiting for parts. In addition, there were about 2 dozen other cars there (all MB's except for a BMW and Porsche) in various states of repair.

I found Joe to be experienced, efficient, helpful & informative, and he seemed thoroughly competent. He was thoughtful and careful with our car, returned it the way he found it without grease stains, etc., and charged us a fair amount for the work performed.

I'll be going back next time I need servicing!

BTW, their phone is 845-471-6720, and their new address is 17 Industry Street, just across Rt. 55 from Mitchell Motors.
