Funny...I've been to a lot of the shops recommended in this thread. I've got my ML at Autoscandia right now (first time there), fortunately it's just for maintenance repairs on the suspension (ball joints, tie rods, control arms) so it's nothing really MB specific that requires expertise in terms of diagnosis or repairs. They did pick up one of Curry's Automotive longer term MB techs (Andy) when Mr. Tire bought out Curry's.
I've also had my truck at Sterling Star. The reason it isn't there now... I had $4k worth of repairs done there in 6 months...conductor plate, shifter, rear brake lines replaced (all self diagnosed through this forum). As a result of some of the more minor repairs, an alignment had to be done. They did not properly center the steering wheel so it was off center after the truck's alignment was done . When I came back a week later and spoke with GP, he blew me off and told me I should have told him sooner. He did not make it right. Excuse me, I just dropped $4k here in six months, the least you could do is make sure the alignment is taken care of properly. Add to this the fact that they returned the truck with grease/dirt on the vinyl/plastic parts on the interior several times (and I didn't complain), broke the center console window switch panel (the whole panel depresses when a button is now pushed) when they replaced the shifter (again I didn't complain) and the fact that GP suggested a used shifter to replace my damaged one (this was his suggestion) to save $100 on the part cost. No problem, except the used shifter was bad. So I told him to go with a new one after the car couldn't get out of limp mode. He fought me on this when I told him the problem HAD to be the used shifter. Finally after 3 days, he admitted it was indeed the used shifter causing the problem. DUH.
When I got the bill fafter the NEW shifter was installed, the new part/used part differential was now a $180 instead of $100. When I brought this to GP's attention hew blew me off even after I showed him his email with all the pricing info he had given me 3 days before.
Needless to say, that was the straw that broke it for me.
