Thanks Mike. I have plugged my own shop here plenty of times, also in Waltham, and they really are great at what they do: very talented mechanics and part of the Alfa Romeo owner's club. They still work on Alfa, and they can also work on Ferrari, Maybach, any make really; just great people and very HONEST.
HOWEVER...after visiting EAS a few times I think I may start taking my Benz there from now on and taking my wife's Lexus to Accel. It's so hard to say "no" to EAS! The service manager, Ed, is great, they ONLY work on Mercedes-Benz vehicles and they know & understand all those little stupid problems that are Benz-specific and that brings us to these forums in the first place.
They also are restoration specialists and got some paint overspray done by a careless body shop off my leather seats fairly quickly. They used to be the old Hatch & Sons on the Wayland/Sudbury line which I believe is now a Bentley dealership.
By the way, there is a Benz-owner's open house at EAS on Saturday, April 18th. I plan on trying to attend!

MA, Waltham
For those in or around Massachusetts, European Auto Solutions in Waltham is having an open house Saturday April 18th from 9am to 2pm (the service manager said 2pm; their website says 1pm).
Since I work in Waltham and have been to this place a few times now, I'm going to try to stop by Saturday morning. The owner, Tim, is a great guy. The other day, I was in to have some work done and they had promised me a loaner. The svc manager tried calling the guy who was supposed to drop off the loaner at 8am but he wasn't picking up his phone, so Ed, the svcmgr, was just about to call a rental agency when I told him I work 5 minutes away and a ride would suffice & be less trouble for everyone. So the owner, Tim, gave me a ride in a W124 to and from work. Just talking with the guy for a total of 10 minutes that day was educational & fun. They really have a passion for these cars and he showed me some of his personal beauties - a 91 SL500 w/ 31,000 miles on it and an E320 convertible from 95 (right before the nameplate switch to CLK); they were doing the entire wiring harness that day. Good people, fair, honest, and they only work on Benz vehicles!
If any of you are going post here, would be fun to put some faces to (screen) names!
Edward S. Owen is a friendly guy. I was passing by last Friday before dinner on Moody Street and I popped in for a question. It was after hours and Ed was still there. He was very friendly and modest with his approach to recommend a quick diagnostic on a day like Tuesday, which is today.
The problem I have been having is with the heat not coming on even when the setting is on high. Meanwhile the AC is working fine but when it is Off the AC belt keeps turning.
It turns out to be the the heat valve is stuck on cold air and needs to be replaced as he recommended versus cleaning it becasue the part is $75.00 and the labor 2-3 hours at $100 per hour. I think the rate is on the high side for me but I am pleased with the treatment.

glad you had a good experience there. the labor rate itself is on par with other places in the area; keep in mind you're getting very specialized service. the parts, they tend to be "snobs" about - they like Mercedes-branded only, never mind OEM. If you bring them bosch parts or OEM parts from an autohausaz.com they will use them, but they are quick to remind you that they cannot warranty the PART...so if the part is found to be faulty they'd have to go in and charge you labor to replace it, plus the new part cost. i've found that to be incentive enough to spend the extra $20-$50 depending on the part as they really are a first-class operation.
Ed is great - got to know him all too well the first half of the year when my benz needed a good deal of work
I can definitely vouch for EAS. I take both my S Class and E Class there. They are pretty thorough in their work. Their prices are pretty fair. They charged me about $100 for a Service A instead of the $300 the local dealer wanted. It always makes sense to shop around because they aren't always cheaper (Nav update was actually cheaper at the dealer) but for most mechanical things they are definitely cheaper and do a very good job.
Ed is a great guy along with Tim the owner. It's a pretty relaxed atmosphere and you can tell they're not trying to price gouge you. They work on anything Mercedes, you'll see anything from a 1960s Benz to the newest models there.
