Single Product Polishing– A Revolution Long Overdue
Anaheim, August 1 --“There’s got to be a better way.” Tom Horvath found himself repeating this mantra over and over, year after year as he worked on award winning finishes at his custom auto body shop in Anaheim, California.
For over 30 years, Horvath finished luxury and performance cars the old fashioned way. You know the drill: Cut, Polish, Glaze. First you scratch up the surface with compound; then you smooth out the surface with polish; then you glaze over the surface to cover up the scratches, swirls and burn through you made in the first two steps. That’s the way it’s been done for as long as he can remember. But Horvath is changing all that.
Horvath has introduced a product line that is a result of dozens of years of research and real-life application. Designed in his shop for use by auto body professionals, SYSTEM ONE® X3 Cutting Polish is a single product that permanently removes scratches and scuffs and polishes the painted surface to a flawless high gloss finish. Using nanotechnology and uniformly sized microscopic particles (not diminishing particles like the old method), X3 safely polishes paint to a perfect optical finish and high gloss shine. No need to fill in the scratches & swirls with glaze; there are none! Horvath calls his method, “Single Product Polishing” or “SPP” and he hopes to revolutionize the industry with the concept.
“Some of my earliest memories are of time spent in my dad’s body shop in Ohio,” notes Horvath. “In 1980, I opened my own custom auto body shop in Southern California. After only a year in business my shop had won a number of prestigious “Best Paint” awards. For almost 30 years we have provided award-winning service for owners of luxury and performance automobiles from all over the world. But hard as we tried, the standard Compound-Polish-Glaze method didn’t give us the flawless finish we were striving for.”
So what was an auto body man to do? Why of course, he went back to school!
Horvath enrolled in a chemical formulations class at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California. One day, a conversation with an associate in the optical industry led Horvath to investigate the methods used for polishing telescope and eyeglass lenses to a perfect finish. He soon went back to his shop-based lab and began applying that technology to the chemistry of paint. After many formulations he came up with a superior solution… SYSTEM ONE was born.
Single Product Polishing eliminates many of the problems you find with traditional 3-step methods. States Horvath, “First, our polishing particles are microscopic and uniformly sized. We don’t use large particles to tear up the surface. Our cuts are so fine and precise the scratches seem to just melt away. No swirls. No burn through. Just a perfect finish.”
He continues: “Second, we don’t rely on thick pastes and glazes. The industry’s dirty little secret is that those glazes become white and hazy over time. Not to mention what happens when they get too cold or too hot… It can be a nightmare. SYSTEM ONE X3 Cutting Polish is one single product that works amazingly well.”
The third issue is cross contamination. “With SYSTEM ONE X3 Cutting Polish there’s no worry of cross contamination. You use one custom-designed double-sided buffing pad and your favorite polisher to apply one single product. It’s water soluble, and when you’re done… just rinse or spur. It’s that easy.”
SYSTEM ONE X3 Cutting Polish will easily remove any scratches from color sanding as well as from dry DA and RO sanders. It works flawlessly on all colors and paint finishes, including one, two and three stage paints, as well as older acrylic lacquers and acrylic enamels.
Horvath’s sincere wish is that SPP quickly becomes the industry standard. “Sometimes you have to shake things up to let people know that the old way isn’t necessarily the good way,” he notes.
SYSTEM ONE X3 Cutting Polish is available in 8 ounce, Quart (32 ounce), and Gallon (128 ounce) bottles, as well as 5 Gallon containers. SYSTEM ONE also makes an easy to use Spray Wax and Licorice Black Tire Dressing.
Very impressive vids on your system one products. I also notice the vids are all in the direct sun lights, which makes me wanna see this product in action. When I'm running low on some of my waxes I will give this product a go, no harm in testing new products.
Do you have any comperison data for your product vrs others. I would love to see. The video's are well more then enough, but some data wouldnt hurt. Thanks

Thanks!
Yeah, we have fun with the direct sunlight thing. Some of what you've been told to NEVER do...polish and wax in the sun or on a hot surface...we do it with ease. During demos, we even lean on edges pretty hard to show how safe the polish is.
I don't have any comparison data, but I will check with the manufacturer.
You are in S.D.? I assume that is San Diego? We are not far away, in Orange County. If you are ever up this way, we would enjoy doing a demo for you at the shop or at one of the local shows we attend.
I just purchased the SYSTEM ONE X3 Cutting Polish.
I'm really interested in seeing how it will do, especially on my headlights as this is the biggest weak spot on my car.
If it works as good as it looks on the videos you'll have a customer for life.

Roger that. We received your order and we'll ship it tomorrow.

Yeah, San Diego. That would be nice, I could make a day of it, but if I end up not having alot of time to do so, I will order the Polish and give it a real go. If you see from some of my previous detailing post, I am still learning and am willing to try new products to see what would happen.

SYSTEM ONE lasts me about 8-12 weeks in the hot Socal sun. You may get longer life from a synthetic, but nothing shines like a carnauba!
GOAL: to extend the life of my $150.00 exterior detail w/o having to apply a product every 2-4 weeks.
I have a black 2000 SL500 that I had detailed on 8/22/07 by Bling Bling Mobile Auto Detailing Orange County. He did a great job that is supposed to last 6-9 months. After that I have been using Mequiars Ultimate Quik Detailer (22 oz.) about every four weeks at $11.85 with tax. Note: the Quick Detailer should probably be used every two weeks but I'm lazy.
I just received the SYSTEM ONE Spray Wax (22 oz.) at $19.10 with tax and ship. After washing my car in the morning with Mother's Car Wash Soap. I dried the car but the instructions say you don't have to do it that way. Instead I chose to apply it late last night at about 56 degrees because I really don't like getting hot during the day. I dampened one small micro fiber towel, rung it out, sprayed the wax on both sides of the towel and applied a layer over the entire car while respraying the towel as I went. I then used a larger, softer micro fiber dry towel to wipe off the residual. I completed the task in about one hour. About the same time it took me to use a Quick Detailer. Note: the Quick Detailer instructions tell you NOT to do the entire car then wipe off the residual and that's one of the things I liked about the Sys One product.
This morning I did a double check to see if I had removed all the residual wax. I drove the car to a local large parking lot where I could position the early morning sun directly on any car panel. I checked front and back and both sides and the car looked absolutely beautiful and it felt great on the back of my hand.
Now what's going to be of interest to me is how long I get between applications. Let's see!

It's great to hear another SYSTEM ONE success story!
You will find that the longevity of SYSTEM ONE Spray Wax will depend mostly on the soap used to wash the vehicle. I had decent results with 'Zip Wax', but then I switched to Armor All Car Wash and found the wax not lasting very long. About two months ago I switched to baby shampoo and I am currently at six weeks (from the most recent wax job) with plenty of beading still happening.
You should be able to go 8-12 weeks between waxing if your soap isn't too harsh. I usually don't wait that long because as you said, it's pretty easy to apply.
I suggest waxing a wet vehicle as a maintenance procedure only because it makes the job so easy to do. For best results and longevity, it should be applied to a clean, dry vehicle so the product is not diluted. Spraying it on the damp rag is fine as I doubt it diluted the wax much, if at all.
