Proposal: DIY threads

Hi all. I've been around these forums for a while now, mainly to find info on how to fix my girlfriends C-class. One of the biggest challenges for me is finding DIY's on how to do simple things like oil changes, replacing headlights, etc.

I drive a VW myself, and so I'm on one of the biggest VW forum websites, vwvortex.com, most of the time. On this site there is a SINGLE thread dedicated to do-it-yourself jobs and FAQs, with links and instructions on anything from oil changes to radiator fluid changes, from brake pad replacements to wheel torquing specs, from shifter knob removal to headliner removal, seat bracket dimensions, radio removal, windshield replacements, boost gauge installs, throttle body realignment, OBD-II fault codes, ECU software upgrades, airbag removal, service schedules, brake fluid bleeding, suspension installs... basically EVERYTHING that can be done, and every part that can be found on a VW is listed or linked in this DIY thread.... on the benzworld.org forums its a matter of detective work, patience, and constantly hitting "back" to the search page.... with most "answers" a single, non-descriptive sentence and rarely include pictures or detail...

I propose there be a single thread on each page dedicated to links for DIY/FAQ instructions... I can start with oil changes and headlight bulb replacement, two things I had to figure out on my own, where I'll snap photos and try to get them sticky'd on top of the thread

Not a bad suggestion, DiasBora604 - you may find some assistance in the Publications tab of this forum (be sure to check all of the pubs, not just the first ones that come up).

They are not organized quite as you suggest - but if you have some good techniques or hints you've come across, you might post it as a tech or some other kind of publication.

You will also find that some folks on the forums will send you the factory information (the WIS) on how to do some of the things you mention, if you request it on the forum.
