Air Bag SRS Light

I have two Smart Fortwo CDI Canadian Cars. Both are having the Air Bag light on. I have taken them to the Dealer and they extiguish the light, with no Codes showing. The light come back on in a few miles or after just sitting. Any way I can extiguish the light without going to the dealer? I have tried moving parts from one Car to the other and cannot verify without runing to the Dealer and it takes two or three weeks to get an appointment.

I have tried disconnecting the Battery and connecting the Pos and Neg for more than 60 sec? I also read on the Modul that they cannot be swaped from Car to Car? Very frustrating.
Any ideas?
Thx.

Hi,

You posted in the wrong forum. However, I owned a 1985 190E. I never removed the headrest but I fixed it. Mine was an electrical one and wasn't working anymore.

To have access to the internal seat, it is very easy. Just unscrew the 2 screws that are located at the bottom of the back rest panel. With your finger you should be able to locate them under the bottom of the back rest panel.

Unscrew them and gently remove the panel. You will have then access to the complete back rest and headrest assembly.

On mine, the motor was still working but the moving plastic part (that bring up and down the head rest) was broken in 2 due to the time. I only used 2 tie wraps!!

Hope the above information will help you,

Uncle Benz

I heard that the connectors to the tensioners and the seat pressure sensors were not of the same quality as the M-B equivalents and coudl suffer momentary disconnection - that doesn't register a permanent fault but will cause the Airbag light to come on.
Cleaning or replacing the connectors may resolve the problem.
Resetting the airbag indicator is a safety item and can't be done except with service software/hardware either at a smart centre or with something like the WinStar or Magus with smart software.

Hi, there mr.shawn
I was wondering maybe you could help me; on the front fender of my S 320 W140 there's a hole for diplomat flag antenna; I really like to buy that flag antenna and the chrome button on the fender to put the antenna; perhaps you could give me some information where to find it; best regards
