Smart Crash Test Video at 70 Miles per Hour

here is a video of a Smart ForTwo smashing into a concrete barrier at 70 Miles Per Hour. It tells how the steel cage was made to withstand accidents. Very interesting video. But remember, this is at 70 Miles an Hour.
That is way more than what DaimlerChrysler, EuroNCap, and the NHSTSA would test them at.

Here's the link:

Impressive!
But the lack of a crumple zone makes me wonder how the occupants would feel afterwards.
Love how the doors still opened though.[:)]

Shows that this Smart design is very safe for such a small car. The Tridion safety cage is made out of really thick steel, the other panels are all lightweight and give way in the event of a crash.
Weird, it does not feel as safe I you are driving it though (had my bro-in-law's convertible as our ride the last time we were over in the Netherlands).

yea, i was surprised that even at 70 MPH, the steel cage really did its work well. Very good engineers, and designers. Very safe small car.
