I just listed my '98 SL500 on the local, Saint Augustine FL, Craigslist (I finally got the ambition to pull the steering wheel and replace the CC switch); $5400 OBO here is a link to the CL posting...
I do not have the hardtop, as at the time I bought the car I had no place to store it and knew I would never use it--sold it for $300 the day I bought the car and have never missed it. I also felt/feel the car becomes quite plain, almost bland, looking with the HT mounted--to my eye it looks like a somewhat angular styled Chrysler Sebring.
Then to having driven roadsters for many years I'm pretty much a "top is down unless it's raining (hard)" fellow and find the heater quite capable for the two weeks it's needed here in Florida--and that the AC does what's ncessary when it is blazing.
They are however quite commonly available for $400 to $600, I can adjust the price by if that is a sticking point.
