Red face Need w124 plastic thermostat housing 300e

Hi all!

Looking for a plastic thermostat housing for my 1992 300e sedan, 3 liter engine. Original is black plastic with no bleeder. Mine is still functional but is weeping due to a crack above the o-ring. Needs fixed before winter. Please email to: jimshaffer0000@sbcglobal.net

As always, Thanks for your help!

Have to Agree with Trevor here

Alloy is the way to go as the Plastic ones always go brittle and crack.Somebody had already replaced mine with an alloy one and I have to say I approve Its one time when I think originality isn't always the best option

Thanks, I was wondering about that. There are many metal ones for sale on Ebay, but most say "does not fit" my model. Also I'm somewhat confused by the fact that some have bleeders and some do not. At about $10. I suppose it's worth a try. I also am unimpressed with that plastic use of this part. If all else fails, I guess I could try JB weld. EucH!
Thanks for you help.

This should be what you need for your 300e but check with your dealer

It appears they wont supply the plastic anymore as it says the part number has been superseded by the metal type

copper seal ring N007603 008109 x 2
Banjo union A102 990 0088/28 x 1
Housing Screw N304017 0060019 x 3
Hollow screw N000000 004895 x 1
Thermostat A110 200 05 15 x 1
Metal Housing A103 203 07 74 x 1

Hope this helps

I replaced a plastic one on my Euro 260e with an Alloy one from a 300e. It was a direct fit.

To all who responded...

Thanks for all your help. I found the MB factory replacement (aluminum) at Autohaus AZ.
They assure me that it will work fine.

Thanks once again,
Love this site!
