I don't think it's something you'll be interested in, but I figured I would toss it out for consideration:
I have a set of stock 16" wheels from my 1997 SL500 that came with the car. They were chromed by the selling dealer, I suspect, but due to some long term storage the car was in during its past, the areas in the "holes" are blistered. I took a cloth wheel and a Dremel tool to them at one point but didn't make a lot of progress, probably more due to the size of the tool than due to its efficiency.
They're not bad looking, but not great and should probably be refinished. I attached a picture of one of them.
I would part with the set for a minimal amount of money, maybe $250? Since they're aluminum I have toyed with the idea of just scrapping them, as I don't want them and they're taking up room in my storage unit.
