Beautiful '89 560SEC for Sale

Runs and drives immaculately. I purchased this car in December 2015 and have put 11k miles on it since with ZERO issues. Smooth, quiet, and plenty of power - will cruise at 90 - 100 mph down the highway like a brand new Cadillac.

Currently approaching 133k miles and climbing as I drive it daily. A/C, heat, antenna, radio, seat warmers, power windows, sunroof, BOTH seatbelt extenders, all power seat functions including the headrests...they ALL work!

No mechanical issues. Leather is soft and supple with no tears. Paint in decent condition and no rust on vehicle whatsoever. Averages about 19 mpg.

A great example of a well-built, classic 1980s MB that is approaching collectible status...

$5700 OBO

Looks nice, and all, but you failed to touch the subject most of the enthusiasts here are concerned about: service records, timing chain/guide replacement, transmission service etc.

Yes you have a point. I don't have any of those records, unfortunately. I did buy the car from a dealer in Attleboro, MA who supposedly did a full service and inspection on the car prior to the sale, though it's unlikely it included a timing chain service/replacement.

But on the other hand, this is a $6k car, not a $100k used Ferrari. I took a risk on it when I bought it, and it hasn't once skipped a beat or disappointed in the 11k miles I drove it since. Folks are looking to fetch $8-9k for a car in similar condition, with or without service records.

I'm reasonably priced at $5900 with some wiggle room to boot. You do the math! When it comes to used cars, there's always some risk. It's all just about one's personal comfort level with how much they're willing to take =)

Do you mind if I ask why you are selling it?

Benzito -

Surely! I am actually a lover of old German classics, so I typically buy and sell one every year or so as a hobby. I've owned a BMW 528e and BMW e30 325i, Benz 300CE and now the 560SEC all in the span of the past 5 years. I used to buy cars in pretty poor shape and fix them up (as I did with the e30), but later realized this takes quite a bit of my time and usually a monetary investment that doesn't pay back!

With my latest cars (as is the case with the 560SEC), I've bought only those in great running condition with little risk or hassle of repairs.

So...I've definitely enjoyed this car, having put about 11k on it...more than half of which has been for family road trips to Florida, South Carolina, etc. and it's time for a new one! Not selling for any other reason than being ready to move onto and appreciate my next German classic!
