W126 Mercedes-Benz S-Class with dependable straight six-cylinder engine, 4-speed automatic transmission and enormous sunroof. Built when Mercedes' adline was "Engineered like no other car in the world." Very well cared-for!
This one isn't perfect, but a very nice, clean, solid old car. It's a solid driver with an ongoing list of minor things wrong with it.
The bad news first:
It always starts, but sometimes it takes a couple tries. It runs a little rough when cold.
There's a problem with the venting of the gas tank.
The A/C works, but stops cooling once in a while.
The cruise control works intermittently. I used it so seldom it never bothered me.
The SRS (airbag) light is on.
Rear windows don't work.
The good news:
The body is solid and straight, with very little rust. The car drives smooth and straight; acceleration is strong.
The blue leather interior is beautiful, no rips or tears and no cracks in the dash.
I have fixed many of the things that go wrong on these cars: newer radiator and hoses, new heater valve, engine mounts, front brake pads and rotors, new Bilstien Heavy Duty shocks in front. New front suspension thrust bushings.
New Sony CD/USB radio.
Good Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires plus four General Altimax Arctic snow tires.
Recent spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor. Recent transmission fluid and filter change, including torque converter.
Genuine Mercedes-Benz carpet floor mats in beautiful condition and genuine Mercedes rubber front mats.
New license tabs in May.
Many other parts replace
The car is located in Rochester, Minnesota.
