1960s Kuhlmeister Under-Dash Air Conditioning Unit
This is a 1960s Kuhlmeister air conditioning unit removed from a W111 chassis sedan. It will fit several different cars from that time period, including the ponton, MAYBE early W108/109 with no space for factory air, W110, W111, and W112 fintail sedan, and W111 and W112 coupe. This unit has not been tested and it is being sold as being in need of restoration. Most of these units need work anyway.
The plastic facade has a crack under the left vent but is otherwise pretty presentable. I'll probably put it in a box inside the main box to protect it from shipping damage. One of the vents is missing the holder, so you'll have to cleverly fabricate something to hold it in place. One of the knobs doesn't look original but it seems to fit. The aluminum faceplate is a little distorted and could be replaced with a thin piece of wood if desired. The plastic vent on the left side broke at one point and was repaired with epoxy so it's functional. The right side one has no cracks. Mechanical condition unknown. The drier, bracket, and hoses are included as I hear it's best to reuse the fittings on the old hoses because of the difficulty of getting new ones that fit.
I do have a compressor bracket for the engine somewhere in my storage unit, so I can dig it out and sell it if you really want it (but it's NOT included in this auction). The compressor bracket came from a 250S engine, I think, and if I remember correctly it would need to be modified to fit a 220S or 230S engine, for example. But if you have a 250s engine then it would work.
I'm asking SOLD!
