Danke schon, Benzworld!
I have learned a great deal, and met some great people since buying this car. It is now time to let it go. Since it really should go to a fellow enthusiast, I am offering it here for the nearest offer over $1200. It is advertised locally for a bit more, but I'm really tired and I need to call it a night. So, if you would like a wagon in good condition, with a good-running M103 in it, please contact me on here. The car is in San Diego, so local pickup is preferred. I will tell you exactly what work I'm aware of needs to be done if you and I arrange to see the car.
I'm going to miss this car, but I'm just not in a position to restore it properly anymore. I need a solid daily driver and have been given the opportunity to buy one...
Here's the ad copy (I would have linked to it but I don't want a holiday just yet!)
"A good running project car. It's not finished yet, but off to a good start. Recent headgasket, tune-up items, belt and tensioner, battery, radiator and fuel pumps. 2 new tires, 2 nearly new. A good car for a fair price...
This car will need a bit of work, and is ideal for a Mercedes enthusiast, or someone looking for a restorable classic. It's my daily driver and I trust it. Selling to make way for a newer car. Sad to see it go, but needs must. Smogged in February, clean plates & title. Price negotiable, make a fair offer and it could be yours. The wagon variant of the W124 chassis is getting harder to find. This car has an M103 engine and a four-speed transmission. The odometer stopped at 133K, so the mileage is uncertain. My best estimate is around 160K. "
I also have quite a few spare parts available, so this will be a good deal for both parties. I need a daily driver, and can't afford a project.
Having a role model helps. Being a role model compels.
