That's awfully generous for a car with an erupted shock and poor quality weld repair. Those things don't go ploughing through unstressed/unrusted/excellent quality metal without the aforementioned being severely weakened by rust, especially so as Mercedes was (is) known for superior build materials. They don't even do that on poorer quality cars without good reason. For a non-original (purple) car with a significant rust/metal fatigue issue like this, I'd offer the scrap value. Hate to be so brutal, but I'd run from something like this, and I'm an enthusiast...

I am sorry but you are incorrect. This is not the car you saw 6 Years ago.
It has been in my underground since 2004. I have owned it since 2000
It as never had mesh wheels or or white wall tires.
It has matching hub caps to its color
He never said he saw your car. Mentioned a "clone" meaning very similar.
May be a special car to you but to others just another old possibly rusted base model Mercedes. Would cost a minimum of $10,000 to bring it back to life. Even after that investment still not worth $10,000. It is what it is.

On the data card the color ('Lackierung') is marked '050' = white. No original paint...

Just bought a 1972 250C sunroof,,,similiar options $2000.00 Not running but no rust damage...

The true Holy Grail W114 coupe is
1972 250CE 5 Speed manual sunroof coupe with leather and Ivory wheel, My research tells me there were 46 built to that spec...One day ill find one and cash is some of my things and buy it...

sadly I would not pay 2k for this car, even with the manual...I have been in love with these coupes for 20 years and saved many that should have been junked. Made a few Convertible conversions, one truck....

This is a good parts car for a rust free coupe/or less rusty car unfortunately...even I would not want this one.

In all honesty, I would not bother asking for advice within a forum to value cars. Inherently, these forums are full of people that like to buy cheap and fix up their cars. For this reason, members tend to under value and beat down prices. The mentality here is not about what the car is worth, that thinking usually takes place once it's in members hands (and I've seen cars double, if not triple in value just by a forum member owning it). The valuation that you'll get here is more along the line of what someone here would pay for it which as others have indicated, is as close to scrap value as possible.

Look for what 250C's in similar condition sell for and add a premium for the manual box (whatever you think is appropriate) and list it. Ebay is a global market so if your price is right, it will find a buyer.

Best of luck.

Dr. Eurocar, would you happen to know how many series 1 280Es were made with a 5 speed manual? I have one, I live in Australia.

That's kind of what I would like but Gen 2 280E in Signal Red with a 5 speed. If I find one, I'll once again put on the red overalls and go for a cruise.

With best regards
