..fwiw, I haven't had any luck with my 69K mile, stock and original '76 SEL at $7.5K Canadian...it's in Astral Silver with blue leather, full service history.
Something to consider with these at this mileage..if the cam chain tensioner and guides haven't been replaced, it's time to do so...since I'm converting mine to a 300SDL I'm not too concerned, but still - at oil changes or after extended periods of sitting, it's a sound idea to prime the tensioner prior to startup by disconnecting the CPS wire at the ignition module, cranking over until oil pressure is up then reconnecting. The tensioners leak down, leaving the chain to flop around and shatter brittle aged plastic guides thus jamming up the works.
Cam oilers degrade at the same rate too, starving the cams of oil...
Just say no to sparkplugs
