TRADE / SWAP W220 for a Nice W126 or W140 Diesel

No, I'm not crazy, I have just worked my way up to a W220 over the years and have decided I want to return to a "simpler time" (and car.)

I have a very nice W220, 2003 S430, with 103,000 miles on the clock, full records, I'm the second owner. The first owner was an attorney who is not a "car person", meaning that he paid and paid dearly to maintain the car. I bought it from him earlier this year with under 100,000 on the car.

It's in excellent condition with some very minor cosmetic imperfections one would expect for the age and mileage. Everything works well with the only issue being an emergency brake release cable that I haven't addressed due to the heat and my inability to lay on my back under the dash for an extended period of time. Once the weather cools off (I live in Florida) I was planning on addressing this.

Since I bought the car I have detailed it extensively, replaced all fluids, spark plugs and filters. I recently retrofitted the Mercedes factory hands free phone system with Bluetooth that was not originally installed. I also took the opportunity to add the voice recognition module as well. It was professionally tinted with metallized tint to protect the interior and reduce the heat load from the Florida sun. I have a set of HID projectors I was planning on installing for the low beams which will go with the car as well.

So what am I looking for in return?

I want a nice 300SD or SDL, ideally, which should be in very good condition both mechanically and cosmetically. I would also consider a W140 diesel, but it's lower on the list as I'm really trying to go back to a simpler car. No fixer-uppers, as the value of the S430 would probably exceed that of any current W126 or W140 that wasn't a garage queen.

I have owned numerous MB diesels over the years and am comfortable with their issues. I have no problem with a high mileage car as long as it has been properly maintained.

If you have a car you think might not quite meet the standard I'm expecting but would be willing to bring some cash with the deal, fine. I'm very open to creative ideas that might allow me to accomplish my goal. Location is not an issue for the right car that's located in the CONUS.

Help me to get back to my MB roots and get a really nice car in the process. Again, I'm open minded and flexible, so even if you think your idea is totally wacky, try me. All I ask is that you be fair and reasonable in the process.

In order not to clutter up the forum, I ask that you PM me with any offers or proposals. If we're successful, I'll post a reply so everyone sees the outcome. That goes for any relevant questions or concerns that I might have overlooked.

Thanks to all,

Dan

Hmm. Dropbox must have been having problems. Moved the pictures over to Flicker for easier viewing. Try it now.

Thanks!
