That is a very high price tag.

Perhaps the seller is "attached" to the car emotionally and not really thinking about a real world price. IMO the car would never get more than $6000 to a true W124 wagon lover and that is only because it is so low on miles and has service records. Just because $7800 was spent to get the car in great shape does not mean that money can ever be recovered.
For the seller ideally that money should never have been spent. Let a buyer that craves a low mileage W124 wagon buy the car for $3000-4000. Then the buyer can fix it on their time and dime. As the seller would be ahead by a $1000 or more.
This car is not collectable and will never get close to the money put into it.

There are many of MBZ 1988-1995 wagons that have 150,000 to 300,000K miles on them that you can buy for $2500+. All of them will need at least a head gasket and a wiring harness. The trick is to find that tool guy who can break down and reassemble the motor without some extra bolts left over, and most importantly, have no leaks. So,your opinion as to value is just that; opinion. Better kept to yourself, Noodle.

So 23k miles ago the car had $7800 spent on repairs... I'm sorry but that is irrelevant when looking at this car. If the work had been preformed say 2 months ago and 500 miles then there could be a case for mentioning the cost. Any time someone shows up with a low post count and is asking $10k for a $5k tops car its going to come under increased scrutiny and ideally it also won't be missing its hood star and have a fully functional power antenna. If you can sell it for your asking price then thats great since it will help with the value of my W124 wagon. GLWS!

Hmm, lets see... a Forum Moderator with over 16,000 posts in ten years, or, a brand new member here only to sell a car, then will probably never post here ever again....

This happens frequently when a person joins the forum only to sell a car, writes an ad meant for Craig's list, and expects the forum members to fall all over it. Then gets upset when forum members are critical..

Actually your ad isn't all that bad, and it looks like a nice car. A great selling point for an ad is really detailed pictures, especially when your asking over NADA value. Despite the emotions involved, I hope your car finds a good home at a price both the buyer and seller are happy with. Good luck with your sale...

I disagree that "all" lesser priced 88-95 wagons are in of need head gaskets and wiring harnesses. If they're still on the road at 300,000 miles, almost all have had those issues taken care of. You're asking the buyer to pay for your repairs-that's unreasonable. It's a wagon, not a well sorted out cabriolet. Like the others, I do hope you get the big money.

Makes one wonder about these "OLD TIMER'S "; Pontificating upon other member's posts at 2 AM, with nothing useful to contribute.

Noodles has contributed significantly to this forum for many, many years.

Good luck with your sale and maybe you can take some time to contribute something useful at 2am or any other time you see fit.
