1987 Mercedes 309D Westfalia James Cook RV Camper
Very well designed and built camper incorporates legendary Mercedes and Westfalia engineering.
I’ve owned this rare camper van since 2012 and I’ve driven it from Victoria BC Canada to downeast Maine.
It has a valid NYS inspection and a valid NYS title.
Engine purrs and offers a leisurely ride (max 70mph).
Must see to fully appreciate. Extremely popular with strangers.
This camper is in above average condition, but it is 25+ years old with 150k+ miles on it. Underbody undercoat is mostly intact. Body is good but rocker panels have been repaired and body repainted but some rust remains. Some areas of scratched and or flaking paint. Cabinetry and counters are VG+. Roof polycarbonate window shows sun-stress. Radio and refrigerator are not working but may be repairable. Front seats have repairs and cracked vinyl. Awning needs cleaning and tensioners. Van has never let me down / has always performed as expected.

Does not have or need a block heater. Per wikipedia, “The OM617 is considered to be one of the most reliable engines ever produced with engines often reaching over 1.000.000 Km without being rebuilt and is one of the key reasons for Mercedes' popularity in North America in the 1980s, as it was powerful and reliable compared to other automotive diesels of the 1980s.”
